Miho  Ishihara

イシハラ ミホ

Dropping water and putting Sumi ink on Japanese paper where the fibers remain, they will float freely and appear on the screen with various expressions. In the works of Miho Ishihara, who has a unique methods of blurring, you can see delicate, quiet, spreading ink and if you look at the whole, you will be overwhelmed by the dynamism that stillness and motion create. On paper, its almost as if creatures are waving and dancing. Ishihara draws by holding a reverence for nature and becomi- ng one with it. Animism (a belief that the spirit and soul is in all matter), which Japanese have had since ancient times, appears in the screen. Like borrowing the power of the spirit that dwells in nature, as if countless mycelium spreads, unimaginable figures are produced. Through themes of nature, women, and spirituality, you will experience Ishihara's gentle and intense worldview. Recently installations at art museums are highly appreciated,"Current situation", which represents the world in the midst of an pandemic (Fukuoka Asian Art Museum 2021) , “Reinterpretation of the Japanese Teahouse “Chashitsu”, a participatory exhibition where visitors can reflect on themselves while experiencing the sequence of the tea ceremony (Hyogo art museum 2022) .
